July 08, 2016

After withdrawing from the overseas smartphone market for the past four years, Sharp teams up with Commtiva Technology, a smartphone arm of Foxconn, to expand into overseas markets in Taiwan and Southeast Asia, reported Central News Agency on July 6. Sharp will focus on brand development while Commtiva will be in charge of the local business development and sales channels in Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and China. The first product will be Sharp's flagship, Aquos P1, priced at around NT$21,000 ($650; US$1=NT$32.28). More models, including midrange ones, will be rolled out to these markets in the future.
